Quote for Thought:

“The future has many names
For the weak it is unattainable
For the fearful it is unknown
For the bold it is opportunity” - Victor Hugo

And…. TIDBITS!:

Pacifica Radio Archive: Remembering and Learning from James Baldwin

My friend Jonathan McIntosh suggested his audio link. You can download it in mp3 format or streaming audio. Its from Pacifica Radio’s archives. They do a weekly segment airing audio from various figures and periods. You can download the file here. Just like other figures in the civil rights and social justice movements, Baldwin’s language is something that the modern American Left should study and learn from. If we are disciplined in how we communicate, America will hear us. We have to portray progressive values as American values in inspiring and moving language.

Green For All Presents: The Dream Reborn

Check it out: The Dream Reborn

“Join us on the 40th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination. This historic event will celebrate his extraordinary life and present positive solutions from today’s generation of visionary leaders. A bullet killed the dreamer, but not the dream. Together, we will create ecological solutions to heal the earth while bringing jobs, justice, wealth and health to all our communities…”

Fossil Fools Day

From Madeline Gardner:

“[Friends] near and far,

Consider the following:

“Wheat leaves US by 2050, 29 state trees & flowers to migrate out of their home states, drowned polar bears, not to mention widespread climate chaos and natural disasters, poisoned communities, displaced peoples, and all the other folks who are gonna be hit first and worst by it all, usually low income and communities of color. Help stop it, for real, this shit is urgent.” -Philly SDSer

The fossil fuels industry is destroying our future. Lets reclaim it.
On April 1st we will take nonviolent direct action against all manifestations of the fossil fuels industry. Stopping global warming and creating a clean and just future that works for all people is our generation’s greatest opportunity. Lets start now.

From calling for green job development and sustainable transportation to saying no more coal and nukes there are many action possibilities.
